Jocelyn grew up here in Duluth and is an alumni of Madill Performing Arts Center. Jocelyn has been dancing since the age of 3, and began competing at the age of 10. Jocelyn has trained in all styles of dance throughout her dance career but has always had a specific passion for Lyrical and Contemporary. Throughout Jocelyn’s studio dance career, she was recognized with numerous overall placement awards.
Jocelyn graduated from Duluth Marshall High school in 2016 where she was on the Varsity Dance team for 6 years. Throughout her time on the team, she won multiple Conference and Section titles in addition to 2 State championships and several other State Medals. Jocelyn stepped into a coaching role right after graduation and eventually took over the head coaching position in 2018. As a coach, Jocelyn continued to help the team earn several more section titles and state runs. Jocelyn coached the team through 2020 at which point she stepped down to focus on Madill.
Jocelyn’s teaching career began here at Madill, assisting classes at the age of 13 and choreographing at the age of 15. After graduation, Jocelyn took on a full weekly teaching schedule which included recreational classes, competitive choreography and competitive technique. Jocelyn has always had a passion for technique and strengthening, finding new ways to develop dancers’ skills and seeing exponential growth in the dancers week to week.
Jocelyn’s work has earned numerous choreography awards in addition to overall placements and special recognition at both the regional and national level.
Outside of Madill, Jocelyn has guest choreographed and taught for programs and studios around the midwest and continues to share her passion with students outside of Duluth. Jocelyn has also been judging for Minnesota High School Dance Team since 2020.
Jocelyn continues to push herself as a teacher and choreographer, always looking for ways to develop her own skills and also her knowledge as an instructor. With the fast paced, always changing dance world, Jocelyn continues to keep up with the current trends, continuing her education and learning new skills, ensuring the dancers have everything they need to be successful in their own ways.
Jocelyn’s passion is in dance and she is grateful for the daily opportunities that she has to foster the next generation of dancers.
