RECREATION CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Mommy and Me- Ages 2 & 3
Join our educational and unique Mommy & Me class! This 45-minute class focuses on teaching young children coordination and the fundamentals of a dance class. Moms (or Dads) will stretch, dance and move right along with their child during the class. Young children will be introduced to tap, jazz and ballet in this class tailored for early development.

Creative Movement- Ages 3 & 4
This 45-minute introduction to dance class is designed to help young children build a foundation in dance vocabulary and refine and enhance specific movement skills. They will begin to learn basic technique in ballet, tap and even some jazz movement!

Pre-Beginner Combo- Ages 4 & 5
This class is 1 hour in length and introduces dancers to the beginning fundamentals of ballet, tap, jazz and some tumbling. Students are not required to complete Creative Movement to enter this class. Class includes barre work, across the floor, center activities, stretching, and technique.

Beginner Combo I- Ages 5 & 6
This class is 1 hour in length. Students will continue to learn the beginning fundamentals of ballet, tap, jazz and some tumbling. During each class, students will further their education in multiple areas of dance while expanding their dance vocabulary and broadening their dance technique. Students are not required to complete Pre-Beginner to enter this class, but those who have, will transition smoothly.

Beginner Combo II- Ages 7 & 8
This class is 1 hour in length. Students will continue to learn beginning/intermediate fundamentals of ballet, tap, and jazz. Classes may touch on other forms such as lyrical, musical theater, and possibly hip hop. During each class, students will further their education in several areas of dance while expanding their dance vocabulary and broadening their dance technique. Students are not required to complete Beginning Combo I to enter this class, but those who have, will transition smoothly. This class is an excellent preparation class for students who are considering trying out for a Competition Team and/or for students who want to further their dance education and may be considering focusing on one specific style of dance in the future. Examples: lyrical, pointe, etc.

Recreational Jazz, Tap, Lyrical/Contemporary – Ages 8 & up
This class is 1 hour in length. Students will continue to learn the intermediate fundamentals of the style they select. During each class, students will further their education in that area of dance while expanding their dance vocabulary and broadening their dance technique. Students are not required to complete Beginning Combo I and II to enter this class, but those who have completely one or both of these classes, will transition smoothly. This class is an excellent preparation class for students who are considering trying out for a Competition Team and/or for students who want to further their dance education and are choosing to focus on one specific style of dance in the future

HIP HOP REC CLASSES

Hip Hop 1/2 – Ages 7 – 10
This class introduces young dancers to Hip Hop fundamentals and uses age-appropriate and non-suggestive music/movements. Students will learn basic Hip-hop moves, vocabulary and tricks. Class will also cover some tumbling and jazz style dance as well. This class teaches rhythm, musicality, and coordination. It is an upbeat class for high-energy kids who like to move and want to learn some fun, funky and groovy dances!!

Hip Hop 3/4 – Ages 11 – 18
Students continue advancement in Hip Hop fundamentals. Students will learn intermediate street moves & video dancing, vocabulary and tricks. This class teaches rhythm, musicality, and coordination while continuing education of jazz fundamental techniques such as leaps and turns. There is an added bonus of socializing in a fun environment. It is an upbeat class for high-energy kids who like to move and want to learn some fun, funky and groovy dances!!
